I want to manufacture cams for an unmnown make stationary engine about circa 1900. would like info on design?
this is an unknown make of horizontal open crankshaft engine. originally gas, now converted to petrol/parrafin with magneto ignition. believed to be pre 1900. I have had to make many new parts, the cams on the side shaft are two odd ones and in useless condition, the original style is lost.I have established the lead and lag angles for valve opening but would like giudance on design/angles etc for manufacture. The two useless cams on the engine have two differant profiles i.e. one remains fully open longer thanthe other, this I feel is incorrect???. Any help would be most appreciated. Many thanks, Brian H.
not unusual. exhaust cycles are usually longer.
