How much does it cost to design a business card?

I am designing a business card for someone and i don’t know how much to charge. Can anyone tell me the prices for business cards? I don’t mean the printing one, but the designing part!

Thanks..
Ry, Thanks for the quick reply. what is you’re not charging per hour, but per design. Then how much would you charge?

If it is just desiging and nothing creative, the regular rate is $20. But if they ask to design a logo for them, it can go up to $400-600 depending.

The going rate for any good designer is $125 / hour.

  1. it depends how long it took you to design, typically in a marketing firm the pre-printing design costs would simply be the creative/art directors or graphic designers hours spent designing times the rate. A freelance artists rate can vary from $40 to $150 per hour. I think industry average is around $55 per hour

  3. I am not really sure in your region. Design fee in my region is really a subjective matter. Here, we are hardly charge by hour since some design may just spend an hour or less to execute the artwork. Most of the hours are allocated for concept development which the clients aren’t seeing it. It causing us hardly to charge the clients by hours if they couldn’t understand the process of design.

I would rather charging the fee per design. The price may really vary, depending of what type of client and also the time allocated to spend. If you are working out for big company, especially involve with logo design, the fee may up to $2000~5000, such as Nestle, Macdonald, Pepsi, Coke, Dell, Nike, etc.. But if you are designing for just a small company or retail shop, then they may only willing to pay $150~300.

Of course when talk about the design fee, not to forget another important keys – your selling skill. The way how you talk and present your work to your client. To build up your relationship and strong foundation in your career may need to consider if that is a new job to you. But if your client is your friend, then just up to your favor to offer a special rate.

  4. Per hour or per design is about the same since it is a small piece. Many companies offer this service for free so it can’t be very high especially if you are inexperienced maybe one and a half to two times minimum wage
